REVIEW: "A HOME RUN"

REVIEW of We Need This Musical To Stop Us From Killing Ourselves: The Musical!

You know when a bunch of your friends hang out together, get really, really, drunk and erratically decide they are going to do something fabulous?  Of course, they don’t exactly have a clue about what it is they’ll do at that moment, but it’s going be mind-blowing fabulous.  Yeah, it’s just like that – minus the drunk.

At a full-stop 40 minutes, We Need This Musical To Stop Us From Killing Ourselves, playing at the Stephanie Feury Studio Theatre, is totally inventive.  A home run for first time musical theater playwrights Glasgow Lyman and Jeff Rosick (also the composer) accompanied by a very lively, Adyn Wood (actress).

WNTMTSUFKO is a not so dark, irreverent dark comedy about a frustrated therapist, Dr. Hansen, who reluctantly agrees to participate in creating a new musical with two desperate patients, Sarah, a struggling singer and Mitchell, a failing actor who are on the verge of killing themselves, and who threaten to do so should the doctor back out.

This maelstrom-musical-light is filled with catchy tunes and witty riffs, and delivers some pretty decent punch lines.

Silly to the core and totally satisfying.
